OUR MISSION IS TO DEVELOP AND SUPPORT MEDIA PROJECTS AND TRAINING WITHIN MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD, WITH PARTICULAR FOCUS ON YOUTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.
GOALS
-To promote media access as an instrument of democratic participation.
-To inspire creativity and encourage people to express their ideas, as well as provide them with professional and technical skills.
-To contribute to job creation within disadvantaged communities and stimulate their economic growth and development.
-To stimulate positive social change.
-To reflect and sustain cultural diversity.
In co-operation with South African media activists, we are now developing our first challenging project in the Cape Town Township of Mitchell’s Plain.
I am Hivos because
HIVOS steunt de Godmother Foundation met haar eerste project.
Hivos beschouwt informatie- en communicatietechnologieën als een zeer belangrijk middel voor ontwikkeling. Het mediaprogramma van Hivos heeft als doel kritische en alternatieve geluiden uit de maatschappij te laten horen met als achterliggende gedachte dat een gevarieerder informatieaanbod leidt tot diversiteit en discussie en uiteindelijk tot een meer open samenleving. Het MITHELL'S PLAIN MEDIA DEVELOPMENT PROJECT is geheel in lijn met dit beleid. Het tonen van het gemaakte materiaal op Nederlandse middelbare scholen en Nederlandse media, dient het creëren van draagvlak in Nederland voor dit project en voor ontwikkelingssamenwerking in het algemeen.
