Bayimba Summer School

Bayimba Cultural Foundation is accepting applications from emerging and professional Ugandan and International photographers interested into participating in a 4-week intensive Bayimba Photography Summer School.

The Bayimba Photography Summer School will be held from 16th July till 13th August, 2012
in Kampala Uganda
and will be able to accept up to 50 participants. The Photographer will have the opportunity to explore photographic techniques in one of following five areas of their choice:

1) Photojournalism:
aims at reporting the actual situation for media. This can be traditional media such as magazines and newspapers, but will be more and more online media and rich media format photo presentations,

2) Documentary Photography:
aims at telling background stories. Here the engagement of the photographer with his subject, doing research into the subject and developing a visual strategy to tell the story is important aspects that will be dealt with.

3) Fashion / Glamour/Advertisement photography

Fashion and advertisement photography will aim at creating dreams, selling ideals and products through photographs.

4) Event photography
Events Photography aims at documenting events created for an audience or a function. How do you deal with and prepare for a given, often complex light situation, how do you create your own language in making images of concerts and other stage performances as well as functions.

 5) Nature/ wildlife photography
. Nature/wildlife photography will deal with imaging one of Uganda's big features, its flora and fauna. Here technique and equipment, and dealing with this in the right way are important aspects.

During  the first week, the photographers will receive technical instructions on the principles of photography, Digital photography  and software, photography appreciation and critic and photo editing. In  the second week they will focus on their area of their choice. During the  third week, participants will carry out field work. During the last week of  the Summer School, participants will prepare and curate their work for their  own photo exhibition.
