Asociacion de Escritoras Nicaraguenses, NICARAGUA (NI047C03) www.escritorasnicaragua.com In October 1999, women writers who participated in the III Central American Book Fair in the city of Granada in Nicaragua, came up with the idea of creating the 'Women Writers' Association' in the Central American countries. The main objective is to stretch links with other women writers in the region and to promote their literary creation in the context of a Central American Culture Integration, and their mission is to promote women participation in the literary culture (words, dialogue, creative communication) for their own benefit and that of their surroundings. In Nicaragua, this idea came to life in the year 2000, when the Association (ANIDE) was created. ANIDE obtained its legal status in 2003, with Hivos support. To date, it counts with the support of the CAV (Antonio Valdivieso Ecumenical Centre) for physical space and logistic. The organization has 79 writers affiliated, 57 living in the country and 22 in USA, Mexico, Costa Rica, South America, France, Spain, Africa and Europe. The affiliates include a diversity of styles and voices, thoughts and realities, tongs and ethnics, pointing to a cohesive cultural integration and to a more fair world. It has established important cultural and literary links with Universities, academic and cultural centers, literary associations, galleries, and private enterprises that have sponsored them in the edition of the Literary Magazine of ANIDE, in a periodic manner.
