YPMTD Conference: Sustainable business in developing countries

Are you a young porfessional and interested in sustainable production? Take a look at Young Professionals Make The Difference (YPMTD) Their aim is to bring together young professionals interested in contributing to a more sustainable world. It aims to create space for young professionals to collaborate and empower them to find opportunities to bring business and sustainability together. The next event of YPMTD 'Sustainable Production in Developing Countries' will take place on may 20, 2010.

On May 15th 2010 the Utrecht-Leon City Association has organised a Nicaraguan movie night. The event is screening seven short movies about Nicaragua, made by Nicaraguans. One of the movies is produced by ISS/Hivos Knowledge Programme partners Cinco and Movimiento Autonomo de Mujeres in Nicaragua: "The Struggle of the Women's Rights Movement in Nicaragua 1998-2008".

Goldman Environmental Award for Hivos partner Humberto Ríos
Humberto Ríos Labrada from Hivos partner INCA in Cuba has received the prestigious Goldman Award 2010 for his work with Cuban farmers. Humberto Ríos coordinates the programme for local agrarian innovation PIAL. The programme combines traditional farmer practices with modern scientific insights, making use of biodiversity for climate proofing of agriculture and organic practices for soil regeneration.
