Facts of Hivos funding

Hivos funding is approved for specific activities, programmes or organisations as a whole. Organisational funding is a signal of confidence and trust in the partner, based on quality and fruitful co-operation. Read more about the facts and rules of Hivos funding.

• There is no minimum or maximum grant size;

• The average grant size is about 45,000 euro per year;

• There is a so-called Microfund for new and experimental projects, of which the maximum grant size is 10,000 euro;

• Hivos will sign contracts between 1 to 4 years;

• The average contract duration is 3 years;

• First-time grant approval usually does not exceed 2 years;

• The maximum duration of a relationship between Hivos and a partner is 10 years;

• In case of Microfinance Institutions and other commercial activities, Hivos support takes the form of loans, guarantees and participations.
