Institutional income


Hivos recorded favourable financial results in 2008. In that year, Hivos worked with a total budget of 99.7 million euros. In previous years, the total budget was 101.7 million euros (2007) and 88 million euros (2006). The largest financier of Hivos is the Dutch government. By far the majority of the remaining funding comes from institutional funds.

Private fundraisers


A large part of the private funds that Hivos receives comes from donations from other private organisations and from partnerships with third parties and the business sector. Hivos also receives income from the aid of a loyal nucleus of regular donors and volunteers. In 2008, Hivos received a total of 8.3 million euros worth of private donations.

Expenditure


Of the total budget of 99.7 million euros, 94 million euros was allocated to partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In all, 834 partner organisations received aid from Hivos in 2008. They were the principal actors in the implementation of the policy priorities of the Hivos programme. In 2008, Hivos and its partner organisations reached over 12 million people and their families.
