Individual Supply Contract Forecast to purchase equipments for Project on Rural Energy in Tanzania
Since 1st of January 2008, Hivos and its Tanzanian partner Tanzania Traditional Energy Development and Environment Organisation (TaTEDO) are implementing the project “Up-scaling Access to Integrated Modern Energy Services for Poverty Reduction”. This action – being implemented in one hundred and twenty (120) villages in Tanzania – will ensure access to clean modern energy services in rural areas, and thereby help improve living conditions, boost economic activities and provide better social services.
This will be achieved through the installation at village level of 100 Multi-Functional Platforms (MFPs) and 100 Productive Use Containers (PUCs). The MFP’s diesel engines that can run on biofuels will provide the necessary energy for operating milling machines, water pumps, oil presses etc, while PUCs, mobile/fixed off-grid business platforms, will be solar powered and offer a variety of business/services, e.g. as cellular phone shop, electrical repairs and technical support shop, barber shop, or food catering facility. An estimated 50,000 rural household should benefit from the project.
For the installation of the MFPs and PUCs Hivos needs to purchase equipments. This is a forecast notice of the tender to be published shortly. A short summary of the tender follows:
