Alliance2015 members' aid is reaching victims in Pakistan
Because of the gigantic scale of the disaster, Alliance2015 members are now striving to unite their expertise. Members present in the affected regions of Pakistan - Concern, ACTED, Welthungerhilfe, Cesvi and People in Need - are regularly coming together for coordination meetings in Islamabad. Together, the five members are applying for funding of more than €5 million from ECHO, The European Commission’s humanitarian aid department.
Various joint office arrangements enable arriving staff from emergency teams to start their tasks quickly and efficiently.
ACTED has so far reached about 50,000 people with urgently needed food rations and drinking water. The focus has shifted to the harder to reach victims who have been cut off by the floods. ACTED are also taking the lead for Alliance with regards to the large multi-sector and multi-regional funding application towards ECHO.
Concern Worldwide is now helping 500,000 people in Pakistan. The Irish Alliance member is working in many areas across the country, focusing on Sindh, KPK and Punjab. Concern is providing essential food and supplies to those people in most need especially those who are hard to reach.

After passing on €50,000 each to Concern and Cesvi, Welthungerhilfe is now also transferring €100,000 to its Czech partner People in Need. The German Alliance member has now decided to join its Alliance partners in Pakistan where they will be better able to help cope with the enormous tasks ahead. WHH had been sending experts from its emergency team to Pakistan and will continue to work closely with its partners already in the country. WHH staff members currently work out of the Islamabad office that they share with Cesvi. Cesvi has completed its first food distribution to 800 families in Nowshera where they are now distributing hygiene kits for 1,000 families.
People in Need is using the funds from Welthungerhilfe and from a Concern-managed Rapid Fund (€200,000 from the latter) to expand its work in Nowshera. They are working with ACTED and sharing an office with the French Alliance member in Islamabad and are planning to share another one in Multan in D.G. Khan.
