Although I studied journalism and design (still doing design consultancies), both areas were pushed back as hobbies while my work gradually drifted towards humanitarian aid. I am a himanitarian by nature and that is what I've been doing currently. For best part of the last few years I have been working with both national and international organizations. This gives me a significant advantage in terms of working in a multi-cultural environment, networking with local as well as international suppliers, and working also with donor agencies. My experience of working with local and foreign organizations, like Northern Weave, also gave me the understanding and appreciation of various styles of management. My jobs with Handicap International and Action-Against Hunger also gave me a chance to work as a humanitarian aid worker when the earthquake hit difficult and remote mountainous areas of AJK Northern Mountains in Pakistan on 8th of October 2005. I joined Action Against Hunger on 13th of October and became part of the emergency response team. I was involved in the procurements/tenders of relief goods; food & non-food items, Hygiene kits, seeds, etc. as well as full logistical support to the teams of Water & Sanitation, Food Aid, Food Security, Health & Nutrition, and Community Based Rehabilitation. Currently I am doing a diploma in ‘Logistics & Supply Chain Management’ which I am hoping to finish by the September 2009. In addition to my duties in logistics/procurement/administration, I have used my skills as a writer and designer to create publicity material, posters, CD jackets, stickers, exhibition of photos & cards and a music concert for my past employers and colleagues.
